Latvia can be more energy efficient than its Recovery plan
In Latvia, the current draft of the Recovery Plan presents a low level of ambition on energy efficiency, despite the urgent need to renovate the buildings stock.
Latvia is set to receive €4.3 billion from the structural funds (including the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund), with an additional €1.9 billion in grants from the Recovery and Resilience Facility and €0.2 billion from the Just Transition Fund.
Latvia has published a draft Operational Programme and a draft Recovery plan (available below), which have been criticised by local environmental NGOs for the lack of funding and reforms to the wind energy sector.
