CAN EuropeThe EU Cash Awards are organised by Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe in collaboration with its members and partners. It is overseen by a special working group composed of the CAN Europe member organisations listed below. Together, we are taking a close look at where EU and national money flows and whether it is used to tackle the climate emergency or keeps fuelling dangerous climate change.

CAN Europe is Europe’s leading NGO coalition fighting dangerous climate change. With over 170 member organisations active in 38 European countries, representing over 1.500 NGOs and more than 47 million citizens, CAN Europe promotes sustainable climate, energy and development policies throughout Europe.

Together with our team of experts in the CAN Europe secretariat as well as with our member organisations we work on a broad range of policy issues that contribute to the transition needed in order to reach climate neutrality. To keep track of finance policies in order to fight fossil fuel subsidies is a central part of this endeavour.

CAN Europe empowers civil society organisations to influence the design and development of effective climate change policy in Europe, both in the European Union as well as in its Member States and in European countries outside the EU. For the EU Cash Awards, the following member and partner organisations are participating by identifying good, bad and ugly spending measures in their regions’ and countries’ spending plans:
